Miscellaneous Notes

Brother Antony left the Monastery in 1978. He remained in Bloomington, Indiana, doing folklore research on contract for the Library of Congress and the Smithsonian Institute, before relocating to Atlanta, Georgia in 1979. There, he taught for seven years at a private high school, specializing in instruction and tutoring of learning disabled children. Br. Antony returned to the monastery in 1986, and, after the probationary year required by canon law, professed simple vows. Since then he has been a faculty resident in the college dorms, and worked in Academic Advising, serving as the director of the program for the past two years. (Summer, 1990)

Father Antony Hellenberg, upon leaving academic advising in the university, will prepare in the coming year for work with the university program in the Bahamas. During the year's leave, Father Antony will have time to prepare directly for that new task and also have time available for personal study. (1996)

According to someone who visited with him in the mid 80's, Anthony knew he would get AIDS.
